Getting Better Results for Low Competition Keywords
If you think your website is relatively new and you can’t compete with the ones that have been ruling the internet for over a decade, you’re simply wrong on this one. Basically, it totally depends upon the keywords you’re targeting.
Of course, it is impossible to get to the top of Google for keywords like “lawyer” or “Texas Lawyer”, if you start a Texas law firm, and try to optimize it.
Well, if you target the long keywords with low competition, you may be able to get to the top of Google searches for keywords like “Cheap Texas Criminal Lawyer for under $100 consultation fee” or something similar.
So, once you target such keywords, it is enough to optimize one of your web-pages, and repeat the same for similar keywords. After a while, the Google bots and spiders will easily make out that your blog/site is about Texas lawyers and in future when you try to target keywords like “cheap lawyers in Texas”, you might be able to get higher rankings easily. But, if you try to optimize your site for keywords like “cheap lawyers in Texas” right away, you’ll taste very little success.
Therefore, the bottom-line is that you need to start optimizing your site for low competition keywords and get high rankings for some of those keywords. Having done that, it’s time to move on to the keywords with higher competition – this way Google will give higher priority to your site whenever you try to optimize your site for high competition keywords.
Last but definitely not the least; you must not forget the fact that inbound links play a crucial role in getting better search rankings. But, again it’s about the quality and relevance of the in-bound links – not the quantity! This simply means if you’ve 10,000 inbound links from sites that have poor search rankings, it won’t do much good to your site’s rankings, but even if you have 1,000 good links from sites with higher search rankings it can do a world of good to your site’s rankings.
