Getting More Traffic with Image Search Optimization

Indeed, just the normal SEO for specific keywords isn’t good enough these days, and folks are looking for better ways to drive more traffic to their website. One of the most underutilized parts of the SEO is image search.

More often than not, you’ll see image search results on Google’s first page, which are not from Wikipedia, or any other big name on the internet. So, wouldn’t you want to get your site on the top of image search results too?

Well, here are some of the handy tips to drive more traffic with image search optimization –

Adding image to a web page on your website simply isn’t enough to let Google feature it on the first page. If you want Google’s crawler, bots and spiders to index these images, you should include all the details –

     . Alt tag
     . Title tag
     . Width
     . Height

So, if you’ve a picture of iPhone 3G on your website, your HTML code to include the image on the web page of your site should look like –

<img src="iPhone3G.jpg" alt=" iPhone 3G” title=" iPhone 3G” width="600" height="400">

Note: Including width and height attribute will help the spiders and bots to know the size of your image. In most cases, bigger images get easily featured on the top results.

More so, it is necessary that you include catchy images on your web pages, because visitors are going to come to your website only after clicking on those images, even if they get featured on top of Google image search results.

Furthermore, you must optimize the content of the web page for relevant keywords, which closely relate to the title of the image. For instance, if the image of web page of your site is about iPhone 3G, the entire web page must be optimized for relevant keywords like “iPhone3g”, “iPhone 3G”, “iPhone” etc, to get best results.

Remember, traffic from image search optimization can improve your revenues by at least 10-15% so don’t miss out on this aspect of SEO! The Alt tag is more important than you can imagine, don't forget it.
