Frequently Asked Questions - Dynamic Bid Maximizer™
| Q: | Dynamic Bid Maximizer™ is running AutoBid every hour, but all the bids that are colored in blue are not being updated, why? | | | A: | (For example, my targeted position is set to #1, but when I check my position on Overture, it is still showing we are in the #2 position, why?)
This is the most confusing part, because a user expects their keywords to be shown in the targeted position all the time in every moment, however, this is not always possible. Because after you changed your bids, your competitors may also change their bids as well, so that your position will be changed dynamically and it depends how often your competitors change their bids.
Since Overture has a frequency update rate limitation, you can only update bids 24 times per day and once per 30 minutes. That means that the program does not update your bids every second, it can only update your bids at least once per 30 minute update cycle. This is between your last update and next update process, you have to wait at least 30 minutes before you can update your bids again. During this 30 minutes, you competitors may change their bids, so that your position will be changed as well. This is the reason why when you check your position on Overture, your keyword may not be in the position you are bidding to. This however, it does not mean the BidMaximizer does not work, it is just because your position has been changed because your competitors changed their bids after your update was completed.
For example, you set your targeted position to #1. At 8:00AM, the BidMaximizer updates your position to #1 position for $1.16. 10 minutes later at 8:10AM, your competitor change his bid to $1.17, now he is at #1 position and your position move to #2. When you check your position at 8:15AM, you will find that your position is at #2. But it does not mean the BidMaximizer does not work. Because you can not update your bids until 8:30AM, so that you will stay at position #2 or lower if there is another competitor that changes his bids during this time. Then at 8:30AM, BidMaximizer update your bids again and set your position to #1for $1.18, the same process repeat again.
If you want to prove if BidMaximizer is working or not, please do NOT check the position, please check on the Bid Amount (Or MaxBid on Overture). Because your position can be changed from time to time, but the Bid Amount will not be changed until you update the bids during next cycle.
For example, at 7:50AM, your bid amount is $1.13. At 8:00AM, BidMaximizer updates your bid to $1.16. This bid amount should not change until you update your bid next time. Please login to your Overture DTC web interface, if your MaxBid amount on Overture has been changed to $1.16, then this proves that BidMaximizer is working because your bid amount on Overture has been updated correctly. |
