Frequently Asked Questions - Dynamic Bid Maximizer™
| Q: | Understand how BidMaximizer works? | | | A: | The main purpose of BidMaximizer is to adjust your bid amount(CPC) dynamically according to your target position or ROAS setting.
There are 3 major operations(or Steps) you need to understand when perform auto-bidding:
1. Get Listing(Or Load KW) - this operation process will login to your PPC account and download the keywords and listing information from your PPC engine. Different PPC engines may return different information. Normally, it will retrieve keywords, current Bid, current position(rank) and URL. Google Adwords will also return clicks, Impression, CTR and Cost information.
2. Keyword Look Up - this operation process will perform a keyword search on PPC engines to tell you what is your current position and how much you are bidding, and a list of competitors bidding information.
3. Update Bid - this operation process will send the bid changes to your PPC account and update your CPC.
Generally, the BidMaximizer needs to perform above 3 operation processes to complete a bidding cycle. However, "Get Listing(or Load KW)" operation is an option during the autobidding process. The program only requests the "Keyword Look Up" and "Update Bids" operations to complete an autobidding cycle.
You can perform above 3 operation processes manually or automatically.
- Manual Bidding: you simply click the "Manual Bid" drop down button and select each operation option individually.
- AutoBidding: BidMaximizer offers two options, you can simply click the "AutoBid" button from the toolbar to run all above 3 operations automtically with one button click, OR you can set up the program to run in the Schedule mode 24x7 with an interval time setting.
Tips:
1. "Get Listing"(or Load KW) operation is an option and you don’t need to perform this operation every time when updating bids. Normally, you only need to perform this operation when you set up your account first time, or after you have added or deleted some keywords from your account. By default this setting is OFF for Scheduler AutoBidding to save time. However, you can turn it on under the "Account/Options" profile setting.
2. For Google, "Keyword Look Up" operation is also an option. Because your ad may not show up every time(base on your Impression Rate control by your Daily Budget) when you perform a keyword look, you may not find your current position even you try to perform the Keyword Look Up operation each time. In this case, the program will use the "Avg. Position" value to calculate your new MaxCPC. This may more accurate since the "Avg. Position" value represents the average position your ad has been placed during a period of time. For more information, please refer to How BidMaximizer control my position for Google Adwords.
